Ahead of the meeting, we each prepare a piano piece to play for the rest of the group. The music we play varies considerably, from to traditional to modern classical, jazz, music from shows, etc. Listening to music from different genres is a great help in expanding one’s knowledge of the piano repertoire.
Although playing in front of others is initially very alarming, it is also very rewarding as it is a great help in improving one’s playing. Most of us are “returners”, and are prone to mistakes and hesitations in our playing, but it can be a relief to find others have similar difficulties. We believe our cooperative experience helps us all to improve. We have no specific entry standard, just the willingness to give it a go and play something for the enjoyment of others.
