We play steel pans for fun! You do not need to be able to read music or to have played any other instrument before. We have experienced players who will teach you and have you playing calypso, folk and pop tunes before very long.
We have played at occasional charity events, fetes and Caribbean evenings, which have been great fun and helped to raise funds for good causes. We played at the u3a's special Open Day in the Town Hall in September 2022 and so impressed the Town Clerk that she invited us to play for the town's official Christmas celebrations.
There is a charge of £30 per term (three terms per year). This is to pay for room hire, the use of instruments, pan tuning, sticks etc.
Our enthusiastic leader is actively recruiting new members. If you are interested, please contact our groups coordinator via this website.
