This is the new name for 'Useful French' which was set up in response to demand following our Open Event in September 2022. We began with a handful of rusty but enthusiastic francophiles but after a hesitant start numbers grew, bringing a great diversity of ability and confidence.

One or two members were pretty fluent and have gone on to form Friendly French Conversation, which has since attracted more members. Others joined who were very keen but very rusty, almost afraid to say anything. So we have created a third group, French for the Terrified, going back to basics to offer a gentler, easier reintroduction to the French they have forgotten.

Improve your French is aimed at those with reasonable French but needing practice and help with grammar to be able to converse with more confidence and accuracy. Verbs are often a problem. Our meetings are geared to members' needs and interests. We meet twice monthly, from 2pm to 3.30pm on the first and third Thursday afternoons. We have reached the optimum number now, but if you are more then keen, do arrange to have a chat with the group leader by contacting the groups co-ordinator.
