Stratford-upon-Avon

Greetings from Stratford-upon-Avon u3a!
Home of William Shakespeare

A warm welcome, whether you are already a member of Stratford-upon-Avon u3a, or someone looking to join an organisation which offers friendship and opportunities to learn and socialise in congenial company.

Stratford-upon-Avon

We are Stratford-upon-Avon u3a - one of 1,000 similar u3a groups nationally

Stratford upon Avon u3a is open to anyone no longer in full-time employment, including those who have raised a family and are now looking for a new interest and a new challenge.

In our Newsletters you can find out what's happening in our u3a at the moment and how you can get involved in our many activities. And please do add our web address to your favourite links so that you can find us again easily in future: www.stratford.u3asite.uk

We have an excellent monthly meeting for all members in the Methodist Church Hall opposite Holy Trinity Church. Meetings are at 2pm on the last Wednesday of each month. We have very interesting speakers each month who provide talks and performances full of interesting information and often with music or slide shows. After a talk there is time to chat with friends over refreshments in the foyer.

Interest Groups

The heart of u3a Groups in the UK is our "Interest Groups". These groups consist of like minded people gathering periodically to discuss or participate in subjects and activities in which members have common interests. Everyone with time on their hands is welcome to join or create a new interest group, and participate in interesting, fun and social activities.

We have well over 20 groups catering for many tastes. But you are most welcome to start a new group; we make it very simple for you. Most groups meet at a member's home, some in a church hall - and one in a pub! Some involve visits to places of interest eg, gardens, churches, care homes (gigs) etc.

Monthly Speakers

To find a list of our speakers and topics for our forthcoming meetings click "Meetings" on the menu. Come as a visitor and/or become a member at a meeting. Or join now by completing an application on the Membership page.

New Members

We are actively recruiting new members and committee members to keep our u3a flourishing. For further information see our latest newsletter. Our most urgent need is for a Secretary, but there are other vacancies too. We also need helpers at our monthly meetings to take a share in putting out chairs and tables and in setting up equipment for our speakers. There are lots of opportunities to get involved. As in all organisations, the more you put into it the more you'll get out of it!

u3a is a UK-wide movement of locally-run interest groups that provide a wide range of opportunities to come together to learn for fun. Members explore new ideas, skills and activities together. u3a is open to anyone no longer in full-time employment, including those who have raised a family and are now looking for a new interest and a new challenge.

Changes to this Website

The new Third Age Trust Siteworks website software system is being rolled out to u3as who previously used the Sitebuilder system. This website is the migrated version of the new software on a new host, and like all computer updates, the website appearance has changed. For a time the bookmarks and server addresses for the old Sitebuilder server will (as far as possible) redirect page requests to the equivalent page on this new server system but eventually the old bookmarks will need to be updated. Google and Bing etc. will eventually also update their indices to find the new server address.

Further information is available on the Siteworks project website.
